All SMCCA general meetings currently scheduled are on Thursdays in the clubhouse of the Merrick Road Park Golf Course. The main part of each meeting starts at 7:30pm. However, prior to each 7:30pm start of the main part of the meeting, there will be an informal session starting at 7:00pm for the SMCCA leadership to receive input from the general membership on items of interest and concern. Anybody wishing to discuss such matters should inform the SMCCA leadership prior to the meeting to ensure that time is allocated to cover that particular item. (See "Contact Information" page.) Of course, any member can contact the civic association at any time if he or she wants to do so.

Other Events
April 1, 2009: Meeting of the Town Board of Zoning Appeals.
On, Wednesday, April 1, 2009, in the Town Hall Pavilion, 1 Washington Street, Hempstead, the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) of the Town of Hempstead will be considering requests for variances from two businesses on Bayberry Avenue in south Merrick. Several items will be considered, at least two of which are expected to be opposed by nearby residents. JD's Restaurant is requesting permission for outdoor dining and Open Bay Marina is requesting permission for more boat racks. Both requests are expected to exacerbate a parking problem some residents claim is impacting negatively on the neighborhood. There is also concern that the outdoor dining, and the accompanying music, if, as expected, there is music, will create an undesirable noise situation.
